Slovakia is a small country in the centre of Europe, which stretches from the undulating landscape of Danube up to mountains High Tatras reaching in its highest peak Gerlach the evelation 2.655 m a.s.l. There are a lot of valuable sets evidenting life and work of the country people, which are protected by law and as a conservation areas of folk architecture. Cuntry is also reach of natural beauties. The most precious of them have been proclaimed protected national parks within the altogether 16 protected landscape areas and also within the smaller protected territories. Slovakia prides oneselve oneself on beautiful underground world of caves and abysses. 12 of the existing caves have been made accesible to the public. Country is rich of mineral and thermal waters, around which balneologic spa centres of international recognition were built.
Opportunities for bathing, hiking, skiing and alpinism are offerred by tourist centres built by the water reservations, dam lakes and at the first in the mountains. For the culture funs are there preserved ancient medieval towns or their protected conservation areas which are altogether 17 in Slovakia. 3 of them are inscribed in the UNESCO list of the world´s cultural heritage. The most precious artifacts of Slovakia are treasured in 85 museums and 21 galleries.
